We had a wonderful time visiting family in Boston and I just wanted to share a couple photos. We especially liked a certain sign from a deli…

Congrats to my lovely wife, Jennifer Joy-Gaba, for getting hooded for her Doctorate yesterday at UVA’s 2012 Final Exercises. She actually earned her PhD in Aug 2011 and has been an Assistant Professor at VCU for the past year. Thanks again for all the family and friends that were able to come and celebrate!

[UPDATE] All 3 sessions have been claimed! Thanks everyone for participating! The Easter Bunny has come early! I’ve launched a new website and I’m promoting it with a chance to win 1 of 3 free portrait sessions! Although it’s more like a “Where’s Waldo Jon?” you can think of it as an early Easter Egg hunt [...]
Recently, I was challenged with the thought of identifying my business’s assets. This wasn’t in the sense of material items such as a camera, money, etc., but more along the lines as personality traits and non-capital resources. I put a lot of thought into this task and kept coming up with the same realization. By [...]
I can’t believe it… this little kitty is 6! We adopted Ty when we first came to Charlottesville and he’s been with us every step of the way!
I’m going to start a new blog series in which I recap the month’s “Hits and Misses.” I’m definitely looking for theme suggestions if Hits and Misses is too corny. Anyway, here I go… The hits… – Chocolate Chip Pancakes- Beer bread (the babes brought this back from a trip. I’m very excited to bake [...]
I stopped by one of our local pet stores to pick up a few things last night and I just have to let you know there was something that melted my heart – they were hosting “Almost Home” pets for adoption. It’s the same program that we found one of our very own kitties. If [...]
Self-Portrait of Us Call it destiny, or whatever, but “it” seems to always makes sure you end up with “the one you can count your lucky stars for.” Many moons ago (probably ~200 new moons), our paths began to cross in 8th grade as some crazy girl loved the smell of my flannel jacket (thanks [...]
I realize this is a late “New Year’s” posting, but here it is… Thank you everyone for making 2010 a great year for JoyGaba Photo! As some of you may or may not know, JoyGaba Photo was founded in Aug 2010. I’ve met many fantastic couples, families, and individuals throughout the many sessions I was [...]
Jen and I said farewell to our very good friend Kathy, who left today to go back home overseas. Have a safe journey and take care my friend… you will be warmly missed!
It seems like just 2 weeks ago we were enjoying 80+ summer weather here in Charlottesville… wait a sec… we were! Then in an instant that warm summer weather was replaced with a cool crisp fall breeze setting all the trees ablaze.
Dedicated: ded·i·cat·ed (adj) : devoted to a cause, ideal, or purpose : zealous My wife is a dedicated fan of Maryland Terps Football. So dedicated that we were up and out-the-door before the sun was up just in time to get to a noon kickoff game 4 hours beforehand.
I wanted to take a moment for the men and women who lost their lives during 9/11. Also, an additional “thank you” to the men and women who continue to serve our country, both within and overseas, like these young folks who were honoring 9/11 by standing guard at UMD’s flags set at half-mast.
I’m back from a much needed vacation and just wanted to share a little of Disney’s magic.
Last year I discovered my new favorite baked dessert. This past July, I stopped by Williamsburg again for some good eats. Black Berry Crumb Pie = Yum
